The Right Tint

As the weather starts to heat up, we all look for ways to pare down our makeup routine. One of the products that makes our "beauty lives" so much easier, is tinted moisturizer. This all-in-one Summer staple, tackles the job of moisturizing, evening out skin tone, and protecting the skin in a single application. With so many options out there, you're bound to find one that works for your skin type, but here are my favorites:

What's your favorite, go-to tinted moisturizer?

  1. I definitely could use a good tinted moisturizer but am afraid that it will just make me break out or clog my pores :(

  2. I've never tried a tinted moisturizer before. That last one sounds good since it is organic (I'm always so paranoid about my skin. lol) and it is pretty cheap too! Thank you for always sharing the greatest of makeup info!

  3. I'm obsessed with the idea of tinted moisturizer but am always terrified that I'll pick the wrong shade (even though it's practically foolproof) -- this is a BIG part of why I don't use foundation as well. Tips, perhaps?

  4. Jammmer: None of the tinted moisturizers on this list should break you out or clog your pores. The Tarte and Korres T.M's both have the Sephora "natural seal," which to me doesn't mean that it's more gentle. Just means that only natural ingredients are used. The only one certified organic is Physicians Formula.

Shawna: They're all very gentle, so you shouldn't have any skin issues. Unless you have an allergy to a specific type of sunscreen. Always best to check the active ingredients listed on the package to look for any known allergens. Just incase. ;)

Josie: I always recommend selecting the color in person, but these are pretty foolproof. Most are very sheer, so you can get away with a range of colors. Based on your profile pic, I would say you're light to medium toned. Most people look good with foundation that is yellow based, so if you stay in that tone you should be fine. For instance, if you were going to get the Laura Mercier T.M., I would suggest getting "Sand." Although if you'll be tannning this Summer, you might want to jump up a notch or two. In that case you might want to try "caramel," or something darker...depending on how tan you get. If you have any other questions, or want help in selecting another brand, just email me @

  7. Katie: Great choice! Let me know how you like it.

Alicia: I hear you! I hate wearing foundation in the summer too! Try the Bobbi Brown, and let me know if it works for you. Personally, I love it! If you get it at Nordstrom, you can always return/exchange if it doesn't work out.

  10. I am actually a huge fan of the Covergirl tinted moisturizer, with the blue cap. It is foolproof and totally gives you a glow no matter how much sleep (or lack of) you've had!

  11. I use the Boots, No. 7 tinted moisturiser which I found was a lighter, less 'cloggy' version of the Benefit YouRebel which I used to use. Also, it comes in a few different shades which is handy as the Benefit just made me orange!
