Office Inspiration: Sputnik Chandeliers

I first fell in L-O-V-E with Sputnik chandeliers when I spotted them in the window, of the then new Kate Spade store in Pasadena. (Summer '08) They were so sparkly and glamorous, they looked like jewelry!

Here they are up close. Aren't they pretty?

I wish one of these chandeliers could make it into my office re-do, but at $5800, it would totally break the bank! So, I'm on the hunt for a decent knock-off and I almost thought I found one in Ikea's PS Maskros. Unfortunately, I'll have to keep looking.

Left: Is an original, vintage Sputnik. It's brass, newly wired and the perfect size of 21 inches in diameter. ($5800) Right: Is Ikea's PS Maskros measuring 32 inches in diameter. ($89.99)

I thought the Ikea version looked really great in person, except for the size. It's HUGE! So much bigger than I'd expected. My office is pretty small, so even 21 inches in diameter would seem large.

Here's the PS Maskros in a dining room, just for perspective.

My ceiling is just too low for the Maskros. So, my search for the perfect knock-off continues, unless I land an amazing deal on an original or Ikea starts making smaller sizes.
