I've always loved the start of a new year. The sense of renewal, a clean slate and full of possibilities. It's so hopeful! I'm excited to start 2010 on the right foot, so I've compiled my list of well thought out goals. Starting now!
1.) Eat healthier and eliminate Diet Pepsi. I'm a pretty healthy eater, but I definitely could up my intake of fruits and veggies. However, my Diet Pepsi consumption is completely out of control. On a bad day, I can polish off a whole 2 liter bottle! That's just ridiculous! I know I'll have to go through some sort of weening process, but would like to be drinking only tea and water by Summer.
2.) Cook at home. To help with goal #1, I want to start cooking more. I love to cook and since I got a new Ina Garten-Barefoot Contessa book for Christmas, I plan to dive in! Once a week I'll try making something new, and if it's any good, I'll share the recipe.
3.) Exercise regularly. This is going to be a tough one for me since I generally hate working out. I guess too many years as a gymnast and as a gymnastics coach has made me dread going to the gym. I spent my life in a gym! I really need to be creative, and find new and fun ways to be active. Recently, I tried something that I hadn't done since I was a kid, and I'm completely inspired! Look for a separate post on this subject tomorrow! Stay tuned...
4.) Organize and Redecorate my office. My home office is begging for a major overhaul, and in 2010, it's going to get it! Nothing about this room works in it's current state, and it's painful to spend time there. I plan to clearly define what the space will be used for, clear out the junk, create proper storage, buy new furniture/lighting/accessories, and give the walls a fresh coat of paint. This is the year that I create the glamorous office I've been dreaming of.
5.) Volunteer. I've always had a heart for the elderly, and really enjoy listening them tell their "stories." They have so much wisdom to learn from, and often times are neglected. I'd like to get involved with some sort of adopt-a-grandparent or convalescent program. Seems like a good place to start.
What are some of your goals for the New Year?
So how are you doing on these goals? A few of mine were to quit drinking beer and have more wine when I go out for dinner, that has been easy. Also I started using my P90X DVDs again every morning so I'll be beach ready by June. I'd love to see pics of your completed office, if you're finished. Keep pushing forward with your goals, I really like the volunteer one, have you done anything with that one yet? I'm thinking of doing something with Habitat for Humanity. They have an all womens crew if that's something you might be interested in. In addition, I'm looking into doing a URl exchance with other bloggers, might you be interested? I was thinking it would help everyone get more readers. I'll let you know what I come up with if you are interested in a exchange. Have a great weekend.
